I was given a price quote via email in Friday (10/27) which included a 2 year service agreement. I then went to purchase the vehicle on Monday (10/30) and neither the Salesman nor the Manager would honor the quote I was given in writing. They claimed I "misunderstood" that the original price I was given did not include the 2 year maintenance plan which clearly it was (see email screen shot below, to Clarify, both Blaine and Chuck work for Muscatell Subaru). I would not recommend this dealership! This review is not of their product, but their customer service... buyer beware! They will try to cheat you!
Would definitely recommend Ward Muscatell Subaru. We were very pleased with how smooth and speedy our experience was. Justin and the Finace Manager were awesome to work with!!!!
I brought in my 14 legacy for a routine oil change and differential fluid change that was "needed" from my last visit. I foolishly took them at their word only to find out later that the range in which this service was necessary was between 30k to 60k miles and my car had just crossed the 30k threshold. To make matters worse, they told me my alignment was off and wanted 90 dollars to fix it. When I asked how they knew, they said they didn't know for sure and were speculating based on tire condition. My car was not pulling to the side and drove straight as an arrow so I was skeptical. When I asked if they could check the alignment to confirm, they said they'd have to charge me the full service. I found a reputable alignment shop that inspected it for free and concluded nothing was wrong. Very unprofessional and dishonest.
I recently had my 09 Impreza in for warranty work to replace the exploding airbag on the passenger side and they tried to get me to have an additional $3,200.00 worth of service done to my car that was already completed by my personal mechanic. I was told on the phone my head gaskets are leaking and my timing belt/pulleys/water pump are original and need replacement. Told the guy on the phone I just had all of this done a few months ago and he says oh, ok well your car is ready then. I thought to myself that’s odd. Then I go pick my car up and get hit with the whole break down of my $3200 service needs based on the “world class inspection” done by the mechanic even after on the phone I said my car was already fixed. The whole time I just listen and nod to see how far they are willing to go with this for my own amusement. I was told again my spark plugs looked original, every fluid the car had was dirty and needed changing, my head gaskets are leaking and my timing belt/water pump is original and needs replacement. I was polite and said no thanks it’s already been serviced top to bottom. Obviously the mechanic never checked the car mechanically period other than comparing Subaru’s maintenance schedule to the miles on the car and seeing that a year ago it was diagnosed with leaking single layer head gaskets. Since the work wasn’t done through them they figure it still leaks and they don’t need to do any pressure tests to confirm a failing head gasket. The airbag service was done well other than my relay bank was hanging down loose. Everyone was extremely friendly and I got a free car wash but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth for honesty.
Leased a new car that we found out was damaged AFTER all the paperwork was done... Not a big deal, and they wanted to make it right. Took it in at the appointed time to get the damage fixed, but they did not have the promised "loaner" available; I then brought it to their body shop, and the kind fellow there was quite confused by my presence. When I picked up my vehicle, our salesman made a big deal about filling the car with gas (less than a quarter tank), which was weird because he didn't do that (or fill the tank) the day we leased it.
All was resolved eventually, but the multiple trips and lack of communication within their own organization seemed... Unprofessional. We love our Subarus, but Randy (@ muscatell) could definitely communicate better. We likely won't work with him again.
